Re: Favorite Poem
Peni? Could you edit the title of this thread to, "Your Favorite Poems" please? I meant for it to be a thread where we post our favorite poems.
Re: Favorite Poem
I don't know if you would call it a dream. When I was in a coma for two weeks I spent a lot of time with Jesus and also some time with the Holy Spirit. I had already experienced God the father when I almost died 5 years earlier.
It is no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives in me.
Re: Favorite Poem
I remember some dreams and some nightmares.
Re: Favorite Poem
The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe.
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore—
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
“’Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door—
Only this and nothing more.”
What's yours, Courageous?

In the cracks of an earthquake, new flowers grow.
Re: Favorite Poem
Not sure of the title or author. I memorized this when I was 10 and have often thought of it when things looked too hard.
If you've tried and have not won,
Never stop for crying.
All that's good and great is done,
Just by patient trying.
Though the sturdy oak has known,
Many winds that bowed her.
She has risen up and grown
Loftier and prouder.
If by easy work you beat
Who the more shall prize you?
Gaining victory from defeat,
That's the test that tries you.
If you've tried and have not won,
Never stop for crying.
All that's good and great is done,
Just by patient trying.

Re: Favorite Poem
He took a rag, a bone and a hank of hair
And made himself a woman there.
We called her the woman who did not care
But the tramp, he called her his lady fair
Even as you and I.
I am posting this from memory which may be off a bit.
And made himself a woman there.
We called her the woman who did not care
But the tramp, he called her his lady fair
Even as you and I.

Not sure if it's a favorite, but this is something I wrote in a darker time:
A smile
A smile,
freely given,
shared,
lightens loads,
heals wounds,
bringing joy,
a ray of hope,
touching a heart,
reaching out,
showing love,
itself reflected to the giver,
reflected, reflection,
a benediction,
a moment,
frozen in time,
treasured forever.

And another:
FLY FREE!
I await with mind open,
mouth closed,
As images form,
And fall upon the page.
Men can chain me,
beat me down,
throw me in a cage,
of their own design,
and choosing,
but I fly free,
my mind,
my soul,
MY choice,
Cannot be bound!
