The Sabbath

Post by Arus » Sun Mar 05, 2017 8:02 pm

Can someone please help me out? I have a friend who is a 7th Day Adventist. He is telling me (and others) that the Sabbath is actually, according to the Bible, Saturday, not Sunday. I have tried to google an answer, but am ending up getting more and more confused.

The Sabbath is from sunset Friday night to sunset Saturday night. The reason most Christian churches meet on Sunday in celebration of the resurrection and also for the Jewish Christians to continue celebrating the traditional Sabbath. My personal belief is that any day can be your personal Sabbath that you rest and focus on God. Remember that through Christ we are set free from the law. God doesn't want slaves doing his commands because we have to. He wants us to want to spend time with him.
It is no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives in me.

That's exactly what I said to him, but he said I was misguided.

It is so sad that man has taken the wonderful gift of freedom in love and try to use it to imprison by laws that gain nothing.

Many have become like Pharisees. Making rules and regulations follow instead of relationship.

Isn't that the truth, Papa want's us to take a day and spend it resting and worshiping him, that is the important core truth, what day doesn't really make a difference.

Aah, yes, gotcha. I eventually ended up just ignoring him, as he then went on to say that if I don't have "proof" that I am saved, then I am not.

I usually find when someone is talking more about how to do, rather than my relationship with Papa it is time to move on to a different topic.
