Do You Have A Favorite Poem?
This is a poem that my mother wrote in 1974. I have it to memory. I felt led to share it with my Shack family:
*prepares fingers*
I had a dream not long ago
That still seems real to me.
There I was with Jesus
On the road to Calvary.
Being in a different place,
At first I was afraid.
But then I saw a wooden cross,
As on the ground it lay.
"This", I thought, "Must be the cross,
Intended for my King."
I started pleading with the crowd,
"Don't do this awful thing!"
No one seemed to see me
And my pleadings went unheard.
"He really is the King", I cried
"Please listen to His Word."
The crowd was shouting loudly,
The soldiers were unkind.
They pushed and shoved in front of me,
It seemed that they were blind.
They made my Lord pick up His cross
And forced Him on His way.
I reached to help, but stumbled
And at His feet I lay.
Ashamed and full of sorrow
My tears began to fall.
I knew to save me from my sins
My Lord would give his All.
With gentle hand He dried my tears
I saw a Loving smile.
Determined then, I'd walk with Him
That last, long dreary mile.
Through mobs of mocking, angry people
At last we reached the hill.
He spoke no words in protest,
This was His Father's Will.
They nailed Him to the Cross,
A crown of thorns upon His head.
In spite of pain and anguish,
"Father, forgive them.", He said.
Before my eyes, still in this dream
He bowed His head and died.
But, I was glad that I'd been there,
And that He knew I tried.
When I awoke that morning,
My eyes still wet with tears.
I knew my walk with Him would go
Through all the coming years.
And though this debt of Love,
I never can repay,
I pray to God to help me share
His Love along the way.

Re: Favorite Poem
Have any of you ever had a dream about Jesus? (that you can remember)
Re: Favorite Poem
No, I have only had a nightmare about the other one. Scared me for weeks!

Re: Favorite Poem
Ohhhh... those nightmares! I can remember some as though they happened last night. I rarely recall my regular dreams. I really only recall my nightmares due to the frightening nature of them. Sounds like a few here share that reality. I know we all dream...but I only can remember nightmares. I guess that's because we usually wake abruptly in the middle of them.
