I was away from the Church(I am Catholic) for around 20 years. I came back I 2012. I was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis in December 2015. I really believe that God called me back to the Church as he knew what was coming and knew that I would need him more then ever. I have been very involved helping out with different ministries. Someone gave me The Shack to read a couple of weeks ago. It normally takes me awhile to read any books, I was finished it in 4 days. What an awesome book, there is so much that I can relate to. I have had to give up my job, sell my house and car. The loss in the book is different, but it helped me to deal with some of the losses that I have had. Things haven’t been easy the last while, but I trust that God has a plan for me. I don’t know what it is, but have put my trust in him. I just bought Cross Roads and am looking forward to reading it! The Shack is so inspiring reminds me where I want to go when I die(Into the Father’s arms!) I have already ordered 2 copies of your books and want to give them to friends that are struggling and hope that they pass them on.
Thank you so much Paul for helping me continue with my spiritual journey!
Ed

The Shack helps me continue to grow!
Re: The Shack helps me continue to grow!
Hello Ed, welcome to the forum. Loss is loss, and we all relate to it in different ways. What matters, is that we relate to it, and grow, and help others who are also experiencing loss. Looks like you have that in the bag!
I'm sorry about your MS, but happy that you have support from Papa.

Re: The Shack helps me continue to grow!
Dear Ed,
I understand the loss of physics abilities and other things that go with it, including the pain. I was praying one night asking God why I had to suffer. Instantly He brought to mind the passage in First John I believe about Christ is the vine and we are the branches. The Father is the vine dresser and He cuts off the branches that don't produce but he prunes those that do produce so that they more produce more. Pruning hurts. I have started to see the blessings in the pruning.
It sounds like you are also.

It is no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives in me.
